Is Your Daily Routine Making You Fat?

Apologies for the dramatic subject line but I needed to get your attention – this is a serious topic.

Today I’ll reveal how your regular daily habits can either lead you towards a healthy, fit, lean and strong body OR cause you to remain unfit, unwell, overweight and out-of-shape.

More and more frequently I’m observing a great deal of frustration from those who ask for our help….. Frustration they’re not losing weight quickly enough.

After exploring the issue further and asking a few questions about this, I often discover that they’ve only really started trying to lose weight through lifestyle changes for as little as 1-2 months.

Granted, 1-2 months may sound like a reasonable amount of time to lose weight and change your body shape…but it all depends on where you are starting from.

I’ll usually go on to ask – “When was the last time you were at your ideal weight and body shape?”

I actually asked a lady this question earlier this week and she answered… 11 years!

My response was:

“So to summarise…your health has gradually been deteriorating for the past 11 years and you’re frustrated that you’re not at your ideal weight and body shape after just 2 months of healthy living?”

Here’s the thing… whilst not everyone will have been in poor health for as long as 11 years, the longer you’ve been ‘mistreating’ your body through poor nutrition, lack of exercise, sitting behind a desk all day, high stress levels and lack of high quality sleep, the more difficult it will be to lose weight and improve your health.

The lifestyle choices you’re making TODAY will strongly influence your health, fitness and body shape for YEARS to come.

Every prolonged period of mistreating yourself can have a profound impact on your digestion, your hormones and your metabolism (read: the things that need to be operating effectively to allow you to lose weight more easily).

This means when the time has come to ‘do something about it’ your body will not respond in the way it should to traditional weight loss stimulus such as exercise and nutrition – the cornerstone of our personal training programmes.

This is because there is a period of ‘repair’ work required to fix your digestion, hormone balance and metabolism first to lose weight safely and effectively. Unfortunately, this can often be a tricky process that can span several months, depending on the level of distress in the body.

This is why your daily habits today, tomorrow and every other day can massively influence your health, fitness and body shape for years to come.

So please consider this – what lifestyle choices are you making today?

Are you following habits that contribute to improving your health or damaging your health?

You may not be in ‘bad shape’ right now, certainly from an aesthetic standpoint…but if you know your health, fitness and body shape are gradually deteriorating, NOW is the time to do something about it…not tomorrow, next week or next month but NOW.

The longer you leave it the harder it will become to do something about.
